  1. Yeah, Tom, I get it. I think we’re a generation or two past the personal responsibility thing. The past seven years have drove us hard and fast down a road I dont’t think we’re going to get off of in time. I think the tracking of how Americans spent their (borrowed from China) stimulus showed us our collective mindset. And the example from our elected leaders is’nt helping things at all. This administration, pre-invasion, estimated the cost of the war at 60 billion. Paul Bremmer, post-invasion 2003, estimated the cost at 100 billion. Last week the AP reported the currant cost at 648 billion, just below the cost of the Vietnam War, and all post 9/11 activities at 698 billion.

Couple this with 4 dollar a gallon gas, the current dollar value at 60% of its 2000 value, bailing out mortgage companies, airlines, Amtrak, Big oil subsidies…… I don’t know where it ends other than disaster.

  2. hear, hear! why do you think paul and i don’t own a house – we aren’t ready and we don’t want to buy a home above our means.

just because someone qualifies for a $750k doesn’t mean they should spend that much. and they had to know their loans were interest only or adjustable rate.

now my tax dollars should bail them out? i don’t think so.

people think they are entitled to this and that. it’s all about ME and entitlement!

  3. You may not be entitled to a new car, but you are, it seems, entitled to a free digital television converter box. The right of Americans to have their TV subsidized shall not be infringed….

  4. I was just thinking of the same thing last night, Tom! LOL. Why should the govt pay for Americans to have such a non-essential service as TV?

    BECAUSE WE’RE ENTITLED!

  5. That mandatory HD upgrade sounds like a special interests pet project.

Progress is measured by television. Dumb-down the population by making T.V. time more attractive, and government has an easier time getting what they want out of us.

  6. Excellent post, Tom.

I think that many Americans have forgotten the value of personal responsibility and hard work. I am disgusted when I see our tax dollars wasted trying to correct irresponsible behaviors, laziness, and fraud.

Unfortunately Democrats want to create a welfare-state and Republicans don’t mind spending recklessly on government agencies…
