Mero Memo for September 2
Editor’s Note: KVNU’s For the People is debuting a new feature today called “The Mero Memo.” Each Tuesday, Paul Mero, president of The Sutherland Institute (and frequent KVNU FTP chatter) will provide the show with a thought on an important issue of the day. KVNU’s For the People will be seeking other “audio essays” like this from other people in an effort to provide varying political viewpoints on the show. If you are interested in participating, e-mail tyler@cvradio.com

This is a great idea.
I sincerely hope Ty, that you allow Jason to present his opposing views as well. Without access to audio recording stuff, I wouldn’t be able to do anything, otherwise I’d jump at the opportunity.

Grumpy, if you’re interested in doing a segment, let me know, we can arrange to do it over the phone or in studio here. That’s all I am doing with Paul — calling him up and letting him rant.

Plus Grumpy, you would be surprised how well an inexpensive mic recorded into your computer can sound. Windows even comes with a simple recorder in the Accessories. Then you can MP3 it to Tyler.

I just listened to it a second time. Not bad, but will be better next time. Tyler’s right…sounds like the NPR version of KVNU! Except, like I said, smarter!!

NPR?…. when do I get my free tote?

ROFL @ Tom. And Grumpy (and other’s interested) Rich is correct. Most $10 “line-in” mic’s and even some of the higher end webcams will record audio at a high enough capture quality that they can be submitted via email.
For the People is raising the bar. I hope everyone jumps on this opportunity. It really doesn’t get any more “for the people” than this!

More: a little bit of freeware called Audacity and a cheap mic, and you’re set.

Paul might sound like NPR (argh!) but he has the voice of God so I’ll sit through whatever he has to say. LOL.
