Democrat Bowen Urges Utahns to Attend Pickens’ Town Hall
Congressional Candidate Bowen continues pushing messaging for energy independence, challenges Bishop to attend Town Hall Meeting.
HYDE PARK, UT: (UT CD-1) – Congressional candidate Morgan Bowen today continued his call for American energy independence by announcing his participation at T. Boone Pickens’ Town Hall meeting, this Thursday.
Bowen has made energy independence the cornerstone of his Congressional campaign, often criticizing his opponents’ easy capitulation to empty talking points and Big Oil propaganda.
“With fuel prices reaching record highs this year, Congress needs to take on energy independence in a very aggressive way. By ending our dependence on foreign oil and converting our economy to domestic sources of energy including wind, solar, hydrogen, and natural gas, we will see an economic explosion in this country that will sustain us for generations to come.
“Energy independence by 2020 would free us from the constant need to send our troops into harm’s way to protect the supply from unstable world leaders who hold us hostage to their oil. Instead of sending billions of our hard earned dollars to foreign nations to pay for fuel, we should invest in our Nation’s energy future. Money we spend on foreign oil builds up their economy. The Nations of the Middle East are experiencing an economic expansion at our expense. It’s time we invested in America. We put a man on the moon in seven and a half years. With resolve, hard work, research and development we can become energy independent by 2020.”

I really hope someone can go to this and blog about it. I’d love to hear what he is about. I’m pretty sure he is heavily invested in Natural Gas, and solar and wind are kind of a smokescreen. At least it is an intelligent alternative to ‘drill here, drill now’. OPEC announced yesterday it was cutting back oil production, obviously to manipulate the ’supply and demand’ economics we always here about. This will always happen in the global energy market. We are at its mercy until we decide otherwise. Poor peanut farmin’ Carter, dumbest president ever……….Bring on the Billy Beer!!!!

LOL. Great video find, Tim.
Pickens is invested in wind, which means this proposal would have financial benefits for him. Also, in Pickens’ second commercial, he said he’s all in favor of domestic drilling. Can Bowen say that?
Picken’s also has one of the largest chains of natural gas filling stations in the country. But some of the things he says makes some sense. I just wish someone would attend the meeting (or ask Morgan) what I am going to do on those cold winter nights when the wind isn’t blowing. How I am going to keep my house warm?
I guess we could build a coal fired plant for those occasions. But coal plants need to run 24 hours a day (you can’t flip a switch and turn them on and off). And that makes wind pretty much redundant to coal.
Sounds great for S. Utah. The wind never stops there.
Wyoming too, should have a kite competition.
