Deseret News | Utah friendly, study says.
According to a Cambridge study, people in Utah are just down right friendly and disciplined, in fact, some of the most friendly and disciplined in the country.
Utahns ranked fourth in the study for agreeableness and conscientiousness, and the eighth most outgoing, and 18th most open. Think Utahns are neurotic? They ranked dead last.
Given the “missionary culture” of the LDS church, a lot of this makes sense, but I would guess that some outsiders of the LDS church system might disagree, in some cases vehemently, with this study.
As for me personally, I would say that Utahns are not unfriendly, but I wouldn’t put them, as a whole, in the top five of this country.

The surveyors should spend five minutes driving in Utah and they’d change their tune completely. We are some of the most discourteous, rude drivers anywhere.
I’d say the South wins, hands down. They get a bad rap for a lot of things, but those people use sirs and ma’ams and if you break down on the side of the road, you get more help than you’ll know what to do with.
