In an “everyone saw this coming” development, Time Magazine has named Barack Obama as its Man of the Year.
Surprise surprise.
The completely unoriginal, uninspired pick had to happen, I guess, but after a full year of ingesting Obama this and Obama that, it would be kind of nice to be able to try a new flavor. I will say, however, that it’s nice to see the magazine pick a real person again, after last year’s embarrassment of selecting “You” as the person of the year.
More interesting, however, are the runners up to this award. I’d like to hear some arguments for why any of these four individuals (or anyone else for that matter) should’ve won the award over Obama.
The runners up were:
- Zhang Yimou, a Chinese film director involved with the opening ceremonies of the China Olympic games
- Sarah Palin, failed vice presidential candidate
- Nicolas Sarkozy, French president
- Henry Paulson, Secretary of the Treasury.
-Tyler

Riggs was robbed.
It’s better than putting a mirror on the front and saying it’s “You!”
“Your mortgage” should have been man of the year.
