Senate bill would require public meetings to be recorded, made available within three business days
Sen. Peter Knudson has proposed a wonderful piece of legislation to the Senate for the upcoming session. SB26, the Open and Public Meetings Act – Meeting Record bill, would among other things, require public bodies to make audio recordings of meetings available for public listening within three business days of a meeting.
This would be great because as of right now, many public bodies refuse to make their audio recordings available at all (assuming they even record them to begin with) or at least until after the minutes are adopted by the council at a future meeting.
I will applaud any bill that makes public access to government information easier and more transparent. Kudos Sen. Knudson.
