I’m prone to reading doomsday predictions and worrying about them.
The Mayan December 12, 2012 stuff has had me worried for a few years in the event that it might be true. A few years back, I read an article on some Newsmax style Web site that indicated an asteroid was on the way and was going to annihilate us, and I worried about that for a few weeks.
Now there’s this: Solar flares knocking out the world’s power grid.
According to this article from New Scientist, things could be bad. Very bad. If a wave of solar wind happens to carry a burst of plasma with it and it hits our Earth’s magnetic field, entire power grids (like the entire Eastern United States) could be wiped out, leaving a modern nation back in the stone age.
We’d not be prepared to handle such an emergency, and it would take years to get back on track.
I’m not sure about the scientific basis behind this type of story, but it certainly had me biting my fingernails when I read it.
Is this something I should be worried about? Or is it another fearmongering piece of science fiction that a few people will worry about for a few weeks, and then it’ll be filed away under “nonsense”???

Yes Tyler, you should worry. start stocking up on guns, ammo, generators, wheat, wheat, wheat, bars of silver, and fuel.
Yes a solar flare is going to wipe out the earth, watch the movie The Knowing and ull see how it will look like. stocking up on supplies wont help, were all gonna be crispy chips that day. of course a smaller solar flare could erupt, hitting our power grids, all nations will experience anarchy becuz of the chaos, and then a few guns might help after all.
2012 here we go yall
