As I toy around with Google Voice, await the release of Google Latitude for iPhone, sync my contacts and calendar on my phone wireless with Google…I read this article and think, “hmmm, yeah, that’s me.”
The gist of the piece is that for years, mobile phones have been seen as a gold mine for potential location-based marketing, but the thought was it’d be hard to get consumers to consent to allowing companies to track where they’re at with their phones.
But Google, but “appearing to be helpful” has managed to get my consent without blinking an eye, and likely thousands or millions of others too.
I think Google is pretty innocuous, I don’t see why they’d care about little old me and where I’m at or what I’m doing, and thus far, the benefits I get from using their technology far outweigh the potential problems.
So far.
