There’s a story in the Deseret News today about the greatest places to stand in the world. I went to the Web site referenced in the story, StoodThere The 100 Greatest Places in the USA List, and had a good time looking at the best places in the U.S. to stand and looking at the photos people had taken of themselves standing in front of various monuments.
It got me wondering, though, where are the best places in Northern Utah to stand? A couple off the top of my head are the overlook at Bear Lake, in front of Old Main, the top of Romney Stadium’s press box and the top of the Wellsville’s. What are some of yours, and even better, do you have pictures?

A few from me:
1. Foosball table at the Owl (wall side)
2. Hilltop above the valley where you find Old Ephraim’s Grave.
3. Bear Lake shoreline, East Beach, @ Sunset.
I’ll work on getting some pictures uploaded to cachecalleydaily.com. Be cool to see what others have too.
There is no foosball table at the Owl.
1. Anywhere with Old Main in the pic.
2. The plateaus of the Crimson Trail.
3. The endzone of Romney Stadium.
4. The dams in Logan Canyon.
Here are my three:
1. End of the Wind Caves Trail (Logan Canyon)
2. Top of the Kentucky Fried Penguin wall climb (Logan Canyon)
3. Facing Beto’s on a late night

There is a nudist hot-spring area in a small turn off on Rt 6 heading out of Spanish Fork. Diamond Fork Canyon, if I remember right. It’s a 1.5 mile climb up a trail to the pools from the parking area. At the top, you soak at the base of a waterfall, but overlooking the steep gully you just hiked up. For various reasons…often entertaining reasons…THAT is the best “place to stand” in Northern Utah.
