In an announcement from Mayor Randy Watts this morning, Gary Jensen was named as Logan City’s new Police Chief. Cachevalleydaily.com has more on Jensen:
Jensen said his philosophy of law enforcement is drawn from his experience in all of the places he’s worked.
“We as a police department are not going to solve any one problem by ourselves. We have to have, as a philosophy, the community as our partner as we attempt to serve and solve crime here.”
He says he is sensitive to the feelings of those now on the Logan force when a new chief is hired from outside.
“It’s frightening anytime a department goes outside their own ranks to fill a position like this because the employees fear the unknown,” he said. “They need to know that I will be responsible to the needs and the issues that we will face in Logan City. They need to know I will take time to carefully consider before changes are made.”
He comes into his new job already aware of Logan’s standing as the safest city in America.
We’ll hear from the new Chief himself and take your comments, tonight at 4pm.
