Friday and Saturday night, hundreds packed the Kent Concert Hall on the Utah State University and experienced the simple holiday joy of song.
With the 300 member-plus American Festival Chorus performing songs of holiday cheer and tradition, a grandiose display of what one man can make happen was shown to Cache Valley.
The one man who helped make possible the AFC, and so much more in the valley arts community the past two years, was USU’s Music and Theater Department Head, Dr. Craig Jessop.
And by an overwhelming vote of KVNU For the People listeners and staff members, Jessop has been selected as the inaugural KVNUFTP Cache Valley Person of the Year.
Next week, we will speak to the Cache Valley native and former director of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir about his accomplishments thus far in the valley and where he sees the arts community, especially at USU, going in the years to come. For now, however, we invite you to share your thoughts about Dr. Jessop so that we can share them with him and other listeners during our special episode next week.
