I wouldnt have ever thought Dallas could have better air quality than Utah???

This state is so beautiful and has so many natural wonders that I believe we should act now to reverse this negative trend.

California transplants aside, there must be more pragmatic solutions for this issue. I am new to the area and somewhat ignorant to the causes, but I realize that the steel industry and mining had a heavy negative influence in the past.

My ignorance aside here are some things I think people can do to increase the air quality:

1)Get rid of the Ford f350′s with 8 inch lift kits and 35 inch tires. Geez people, how big does your truck have to be? Especially when most of the time it’s occupied by one person usually heading to the mall. I never thought I’d say this, but Utah loves big trucks and guns more than Texans

2)Carpool to church, I realize that most families require a econolodge van to fit the large families into, but those who do not have big families.. yet, should carpool more often.Better yet, maybe the church should have busses

3)Change the paradigm- i’ve noticed 2 things since living here, people are very charitable and people are grossly influenced by fads and trends. Just take a look around and see how many people in your office are wearing True Religion jeans, Affliction T-shirts or are willing to sit in an In-Out burger line for 3 hours.. my goodness. Next time you aim to spend $300.00 on a pair of blue jeans consider donating some of that to places other than just the church.

4)If I had a dollar for every time some goober’s 3/4 ton pick-up belched oil filled black smoke all over my car I would be able to afford to live somewhere with higher air quality. People need to be held accountable and the police should crack down on those who do not have proper emmissions, if you have 2500,00 rims on your truck you can afford a muffler.

5)Legalize it! countless hours are spent by the DEA and BLM flying around in helicopters searching for crops of Marijuana and then burning them down, sure it’s big business for police and for criminals, but right now we need all the plants and trees we can get to produce better air quality. Plus when people smoke reefer they usually get lazy and will drive less..

6) More trees- although I am only 5 minutes from the mountains and all the quakies, pines and oaks, here in the valley it is just sad to see the lack of trees. We Utahns should demand that our government and or local businesses support a tree planting campaign. This will not only help to increase the natural beauty of Utah, but will also create jobs and help increase air quality.
