We’ve known for a long time now the aviation industry is one that criminals go after, terrorists seek, and hijackers prey upon to deliver their political messages. We knew this long before 9/11/2001.
But in the current left/right, divide and conquer political climate, the blame game rages on….
“CARLSON: This President was not notified until three hours after this incident became known. Is that a long time? It seems like a long time.
ROVE: Look, they woke him up immediately to tell him he won the Nobel Prize but couldn’t bother to interrupt his vacation for three hours to tell him a terrorist tried to bring down a plane on Christmas Day. And the President waits 72 hours before we hear from him, and it’s over 72 hours from the time of the incident to the time that the President spoke today, and then the President said some things that are simply not true.” From here:
Is this a fair, apples to apples comparison?:
Eight years ago, a terrorist bomber’s attempt to blow up a transatlantic airliner was thwarted by a group of passengers, an incident that revealed some gaping holes in airline security just a few months after the attacks of Sept. 11. But it was six days before President George W. Bush, then on vacation, made any public remarks about the so-called shoe bomber, Richard Reid, and there were virtually no complaints from the press or any opposition Democrats that his response was sluggish or inadequate.

As Americans, we might want to move past the left/right paradigm sooner than later. We are wasting a lot of time chasing our tails….

Another right wing media criticism placed on Obama was the words he used when he finally did speak. He used terms like ‘alleged’ in his descriptions of the event. This was regarded as ‘Harvard Law’ speaking and not the office of the Chief Exec.
Why do we need a Chief Exec. to speak at all if one is to already have made up their minds as to what he OUGHT to be saying?
Without digging for some statistics, no doubt a certain percentage of terrorist acts are performed by people whose children have been kidnapped and threatened.
At this point we don’t know if this guy’s daughter is being held somewhere with a blade to her throat pending his suicide.
It’s time to start thinking out of the box on this. It’s not black and white. Terrorists are made not born. Our enemies are ruthless and cannot don a uniform and take us on rank and file. I’d venture to guess we don’t really know the names of our true enemies and THEY are likely not the folks sewing explosives into their own clothing.
Those are the pawns …
