So let me get this straight. If you own legal fourplex with parkstrips that were installed with the City’s blessing and assistance half a century ago, you still have to tear them out to comply with the letter of the law. This is supposedly to improve the neighborhood.
But if you’re the City and you install huge steel power poles without a permit, you just get retroactive permission. This in spite of deteriorating the same neighborhood improved by the removal of the parkstrips.
Makes total sense.

Logan City clearly violated their “word” to me; Two city employees assure me, in writing, in 2002 when I purchased my duplex that the 4 parking spots in the park strip were available for my tennants. Otherwise, with a narrow lot on an older home, my tennants would have no parking options during the winter – none. And, I would not have purchased the duplex. So, Logan City went against their “word” and tore out the parkstrips and have left my tennants with nowhere to park during the winter months… I suppose it is all in the spirit of taxing the people – charging landlords for street parking permits during the winter to raise money – unfortunately, I qualify for no permits, so my tennants are “out in the cold”…
It’s all about kick backs and back scratching. It’s completely ridiculous. Could have buried them.
Brad,
I am sorry that you have had such a terrible experience in dealing with Logan City. What a huge headache and nightmare. The problem is that Mayor Watts and much of the City Council dehumanized landlords like you into nefarious boogeymen who do not care about the neighborhoods in which you own property.
I am sure that you will not invest in Logan City in the future (who could blame you?). And this is where the City doesn’t get it. Landlords aren’t bad guys. They provide the capital to make the community possible. Drive them away and you drive away the opportunities to grow and improve and progress.
