Activist and oil lease auction monkey wrencher Tim DeChristopher was convicted of two felonies in March for gumming up a lame-duck Bush administration plan for wholesale oil leasing on Utah lands. Today, he was sentenced to 2 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Was the sentence fair, or did it go to far?

The debt ceiling debate has reached a ridiculous new low. Senator Harry Reid and Speaker John Boehner have proposed separate plans to avoid a government default and reduce the deficit through cuts and revenue changes. But many are saying the House Speaker doesn’t have the votes to get his own plan — DOA in the Senate anyway — through his own chamber. Newly elected Tea Party Reps claim they’d rather see a default than compromise. What say you?
