Tonight:
With earthquakes and hurricanes in the news, we thought it was a great time to discuss what natural disasters we’re most at risk for here in Utah, and what a statewide emergency response might look like. Logan Assistant Chief and Emergency Response Coordinator Will Lusk joins us to talk about preparedness, an upcoming Shelter Boot Camp (Sept 9, Logan Rec Center), and the statewide earthquake preparedness event ShakeOut Utah.
Continuing a discussion we didn’t have time for on Friday, Andy and I will compare the recessions of ’82 and ’08, and the response of two presidents. Andy argues the ’82 recession was worse, and Reagan dug us out with tax cuts. I’ll argue the liquidity trap of ’09 was much more damaging, and the stimulus prevented it from getting worse. We’ll ask listeners to weigh in and discuss what lies ahead for the economy.
