I have Border’s Bookstore coupon burning a hole in my inbox. Usually I head straight for the sci-fi section but every once in blue moon I need to read something a little more substantial. Since this urge doesn’t happen often I don’t want to waste the opportunity something mediocre. This is where you come in. What book has inspired or enlightened you? One that when you were done you you thought ” I wish others would read this!”. Has there been a book that made you think differently or look at the world with different eyes? Maybe there is one that motivated you to act and get more involved.
One friend suggests The Happiness Hypothesis by Jonathon Haidt but after reading the jacket it seemed too close to a self-help feel good book for my tastes. Another suggests Paradox of Choice by Barry Schartz. This one seem interesting. The premise is that too much choice is a bad because it causes inability to choose. Sounds like a tough sell to me.
What do you suggest?
